Style In The City Mixer 2015 Recap

This past Sunday was the Style In The City Mixer brought to you by The Styling Firm. The event was held at the Broward Center For The Performing Arts and was nothing short of fun! It was the perfect place to network with bloggers, photographers, designers, hair stylist, makeup artists, and the list goes on and on. Dress code was enforced and we all got the memo. Not one hair was out of place and I was very impressed. The evening started out on time at 5:00pm red carpet.

As you made your way inside, VIP seating was made in the front row, of course, there was another row of seating behind them and then cocktail tables were placed around the room. There were brief moments where you were encouraged to make your way around the room to mingle and meet other people who were there. After all, it is called Style In The City "Mixer".

The event was hosted by popular radio personality, Toine The Don, from 99 Jamz.

The event started with a musical performance by Josiah, who is a Ft.Lauderdale native with pretty awesome vocals. I'll link his Sound Cloud HERE

Following Josiah was Creativity the poet who literally gave me my LIFE with his words.

The fashion show commenced with the first design showcase by Monde.
The designer is of Haitian decent and her pieces are inspired by paintings that her mother did in Haiti.

We were entertained by another vocalist who goes bythe name La V who had me dancing in my patent red single soled open toe pumps as much as they hurt.

The next collection was from Allusions by A. Lekay.
Her inspiration came from the lack of cute/ trendy high waist swimwear available for women. It started out as a hobby or a means to an end, (needing cute bikinis) which grew into a business after being approached by family, friends, and random style savvy girls who saw her designs as a must have.

The Designer

The collection that followed was from a fashion house that specialized in men's wear. Men's suits to be exact. The owner, Harrell, felt that men's wear was on a downward climb and decided to rectify the situation by opening up his own men's boutique.

This next designer is Brittney King Beautiful of BKing of Designs.
Her line caters to fuller sized women and was easily one of my favorites.

You know the saying "save the best for last", I think this is what Taj (creative director of the event) had in mind when she let the show end with this collection.
This is the Lamaj Collection, he featured both men and women's wear, ready to wear as well as his exclusive designs. Everything he sent down the runway was perfection in every sense of the word. Even the way the models walked was comparable to none.

The Designer
The night ended with Taj giving it up to her amazing team. All the designers, sponsors and her trusted Chic Team stood alongside her on stage as they said good night. It was an amazing night and was honored to be one of the few selected to be there.
I'm so ready for next year.
I'll probably still wear uncomfortable shoes.

Will you be at the next Style In The City?
Sound off below.
