Baking Soda Mask

This facial idea floated across my timeline a couple weeks ago and it peaked my interest. It's supposed to get rid of blemishes, pimples, darkness/redness. I don't recommend doing this mask more than twice a day, as tempting as it may be, because it will over dry your face and send your skin in a tizzy causing it to produce more oil, more oil leads to more pimples. The idea here is have a healthy balance.

I started with a freshly washed face. I mixed two teaspoons of baking soda with two teaspoons of water. You really don't need that much of a mixture and I would probably go with less water next time. Apply the paste over the affected areas. If you have open pimples there will be stinging. Let the mixture sit for at least 5 mins. I left it on for 15 mins. You can leave it on over night if you want to but you'll probably wake up to messy pillows and over dry skin.

After the mask dried I rinsed with cold water and pat dry. I was very impressed with the first rinse and can't wait to do it again.

I then took cotton swabs and applied hydrogen peroxide over the dark spots to prevent darkening anymore. You can use cotton balls or cotton pads to do this if you prefer. Finish off with a moisturizer. I used my Mary Kay Oil Free Moisturizer.
