Riri [hearts] Mac - The Collection

RIHANNA has signed a deal with MAC that will see her collaborating on multiple make-up collections with the beauty brand. It is the first time the brand has worked with a celebrity on anything other than a one-off project, and the singer has even been named a "creative partner" of MAC.

"When you think of make-up, the brand that pops into your mind - for something legit - is MAC," Rihanna said. "Whatever color you want, it's like: 'Let's go to MAC'. I've been using MAC on tour for such a long time it was a natural fit for me. I have always loved make-up, and I always said that if I do it, I want to do it with a credible brand."

The first product to launch will be RiRi Woo, a lipstick inspired by the classic MAC red Ruby Woo - a favorite of Rihanna's.

"Working with MAC, it's difficult to get a red lipstick that beats Ruby Woo, because it works on every skin tone," she told WWD. "I had so many different samples to choose from and so many different colors underneath - blue, yellow, orange and pink bases. And I got to pick one that worked, and I tried it on all my friends to make sure it worked on all of our skin tones."

RiRi Woo will act as an introduction for four seasonal collections - including nails, false lashes, eye palettes and accessories - known as RiRi [Hearts] MAC. MAC also provided the make-up for Rihanna's recent Rihanna for River Island fashion show.

"This is a true, organic collaboration based on mutual admiration and respect," said John Dempsey  group president of the Estée Lauder Cos. Inc., MAC's parent company. "These four collections are like four tracks on a Rihanna compilation. Each one has its own vibe, look, special make-up packaging and flavor."

The collection will be available online and at Rihanna concerts - there will be a MAC pop-up shop at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, to coincide with Rihanna's Diamonds Tour - before launching in stores later this year.

"I really got to play," Rihanna said of the collaboration. "There's so much to choose from, and you can mix different textures with different colors and different greens in different eye shadows. I learned so much about the detail of make-up and what makes things look different. What makes it apply different is really important. Every little detail is important."

The four collections will be released throughout 2013 will be called RiRi [Hearts] MAC with a total of 31 stock-keeping units. The summer portion will be sold online, which includes two additional lipsticks, Lustre Drops, and a blush duo. The third will be in stores for fall and feature sixteen products, such as lipsticks, a Lipglass version of RiRi Woo, two eye shadow palettes, and false lashes. The final installment will be in-stores in time for the holidays with ten products, like nail polish, makeup bag, and more lipsticks. RiRi Woo will be sold in all four collections.



  1. aahh..Rihanna..I kinda think she should stick with music...her fashion line looks like designs for hockers and the make-up really isn´t that new, don´t like the packaging at all...don´t know, maybe it´ll grow on me.
