BREAKING NEWS: Wilmot "Mutty" Perkins dead at 80yrs.

Popular talk show host Wilmot Perkins died 1 o' clock Friday morning at his St Andrew home after a brief illness.

Mr. Perkins, who is commonly referred to as "Motty", was 80 years old.

Wilmot "Motty" Perkins was born and raised in Portland.

He attended Calabar High School in Kingston and was the longest serving talk show host in Jamaica.

He started his career in radio in 1960 hosting a show called What ‘s My Grouse on RJR.

He then took a short break and went into farming.

He returned to radio in the 1970’s as host of the Jamaica Broadcasting Corporation call in program Public Eye.

From there he returned to RJR as host of Hotline.

He also worked with KLAS FM 89, Hot 102 FM and has been the host of the programme “Perkins on Line” on Power 106 FM since April 2002.

Wilmot Perkins who also worked as a news editor and columnist at theJamaica Gleaner is survived by widow, Elaine.
